Gramsetu Community Center

Gramsetu Community Center

The Gramsetu initiative first started in 2019 in Meghraj village by establishing a loving relationship with its villagers. The initiative’s primary goals are as follows:

  1. Creating livelihoods for farmers
  2. Educating its villagers on government schemes and providing aide in applying for the same
  3. Building a sense of community through group activities and resource sharing
  4. Setting up health camps to provide general & specific medical aid
  5. Building a farming center that teaches how to practice organic and sustainable farming and how to set up and use its various tools & methods such as bio-gas plant, solar sprinkler & drip irrigation system, chaff cutters, solar panels and rain water harvesting.

Between 2019 - 2021, 50 women farmers have been supported with loans of over Rs. 40,000. These women have been trained in farming and packing of produce such as groundnut oil, haldi, mirchi and honey to name a few. 1200 fruit plant seeds have been distributed and planted in farms and another 2200 trees have been planted in public spaces by Dreams Foundation. We have built 18 Bio-gas plants, bought and installed 7 chaff cutters, built 7 water tanks and installed 12 solar sprinklers plus drip irrigation in and around Meghraj since the project’s initiation. In 2022, we have also started selling our farmers’ organic goods to customers in Ahmedabad, so as to cut the middle-men and ensure farmers reap full benefits of the seeds sown.

Our aim is to continue to support farmers and increase our reach by providing them with training, support and interest-free loans.
